South Road Cricket Club

2013-2014 ASCA Handbook Report

In 2012/13, South Road entered teams into battle and provided a brotherhood at Edwardstown through community cricket for the 73rd time. The season featured highlights on both sides of the fence.

Off the field, we built on our charitable giving by $11,500 though the Leukaemia Foundation T20, the Movember Mouse Cup and the McGrath Foundation Quiz Night – taking our 2 year total to over $16,500. We believe supporting the communities around us is very important. Even though our small donations, the club is proud to be in a position to contribute to raising the awareness of Leukaemia, shedding some light on men’s health issues and assisting with funding for breast care nurses.

On the park, participation increased to 5 teams while we improved our training environment to support growing numbers and improve performance.

Our C Grade progressed through to the Section 5 Grand Final and our T20 side represented in both the ASCA Grand Final and the SAMCA Metro Grand Final held at Adelaide Oval. Well done to Luke, Rob and both of your sides.

The ongoing progress and achievement over the year was testament to our strong committee and a working example that a small group of passionate people can achieve anything they set their minds to.

We witnessed great work by our captains – Adam, Darren, Luke, Matt, Simon and Rob for 2012/13. Without your commitment, passion and organisation throughout the year, none of our club achievements would have been possible.
Thanks to Greg Anderson for your efforts and willingness to roll your sleeves up for the club during the season. Your leadership and perseverance in delivering our training sessions speaks of your character and was a large part of our overall club success.

Congratulations to Andy Hyland, Anthony May, Tom Wilson, Adam Willson, Rob Calder and Shaun Krutli in their representation at Association level. Further, Adam became SRCC’s 3rd player in our history to represent the club as Association Skipper.

We have sincere gratitude for the contributions of our partners, Vertex Scaffolding, Upside Building Supplies, Jetty Hotel, Courtesy Driving School, Southern Plasterboards, Nelsons Fresh Express and Captain Chicken, without which our great club could not prosper.

Well done to the Association Executive and Umpires throughout the year. Much of what you manage is left unseen, we are grateful though for the smooth competition and appreciate all the work you commit.

Season 2013/14 shapes up to be another outstanding season under the new leadership of President Stefan Potts. The club plans to continue to support less fortunate members of our community through charitable giving while improving the services the club offers and striving for the ultimate in premiership success.

All the best to all clubs and teams throughout the grades in the upcoming season. Let’s all take the time to respect each other and enjoy the competition we have through cricket.
