South Road Cricket Club

2017-2018 Presidents Report

I’m writing this summary of the season as we wrap up and move on to another season. The first thing I would like to do is thank the committee members, Matthew Altus, Peter Fosdike, Jonathon Finch, Mark Mitton, Steven Broad, Aslito May, Graham Hartlett and Bradley Ross. I also thank this year’s team Captains: A Grade Adrian Woolman, B Grade Balbir Singh, and D Grade Jordan Davies. Without this core group of people we cannot provide the platform for people to enjoy their cricket. You all mean a lot to me and the Club.
This year we had almost a completely new committee, including some very green prospects.
As only 3 members had been on the committee before, it was not the smoothest transition at the start of the off season, but I am pleased to have overseen the growth of individuals on this committee. This season as a committee, we tried to handle our business as a group, and everyone stepped up at some point when needed.
This season was one of change. We had a lot of turnover, from players through to committee members. This posed a unique challenge this season, as we had players in grades they had not played in before, but it was a challenge that everyone accepted. I think as a club we understand we are in a transition phase. You can’t win everything every year. I do believe that by sorrounding ourselves with quality people and friends, making our cricket fun, getting around the club and supporting each other at training, in games, and after games, we will grow as a club and as a unit. We want to work at getting all teams back into finals; this is not an overnight fix, but if we create the culture, it can create long term memories, stories, and friendships, and keep the club highly regarded and respected by the entire association.
I would like to think, with all the upcoming changes to the Edwardstown precinct, that we can ride these coattails ourselves, using this growth and change in the community to reignite our presence in the community. We can use this as a platform to introduce new members to our brand; we can use this to frow as individuals. This will be the first time we have our own clubhouse, somethink I think we can all get excited for.
There are lots of new and exciting times ahead for the SRCC: it’s a great time to be at the Roadhouse as we start the climb up the ladder. It will take contributions from everyone at the SRCC as we work as a team towards one goal
Congratulations to the Trophy winners and to our new committee members. I look forward to what this club can accomplish in the future. Bring on the new developments to the establishment and to the SRCC.
Roadhouse.
Regards, Aaron Schmidt
